Established in 1495, Loughborough Grammar School is proud to have more than 500 years of specialism in boys’ education. The School is set within a dynamic and inclusive co-educational campus which is shared with our neighbouring all-girls school. We set the bar high in terms of ambition, and our boys deliver year after year. They go on to achieve brilliant things. More importantly, they go on to be brilliant people.
Our principal focus is to provide an exceptional education, underpinned by a happy, aspirational ethos. We value tradition while inspiring innovation. The richly diverse array of opportunities to excel at LGS enables every student to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
Academic excellence is clear in our students’ exam results and leavers’ destinations. In 2026, 43% of GCSE grades awarded were 9–8 and 79% achieved grades 9–7 in Mathematics. 71% attained A*–B grades at A level and 120 boys achieved A*/A in STEM subjects. Students have pursued a wide range of courses at many prestigious universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, King’s College London and UCL, Durham, Edinburgh among others. Others have embarked on degree apprenticeships with international employers, specialist conservatoire and performing-arts routes, such as the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, and prestigious pilot training, including with the Royal Air Force.
Academic fulfilment, individual growth and a commitment to service are hallmarks of a Loughborough Grammar education. Passions and interests are nurtured and shaped, whether in sports, adventurous outdoor education, creative arts or in the competitive arena. We believe that co-curricular activities are a vital part of a boy’s education. While academic success opens doors, it is often the experiences beyond the classroom that give our pupils the confidence, character and skills to step through those doors and flourish in life. From Bee Club to Mindsports Club, Debating Society to Laser Run Club and the Combined Cadet Force, there is something for everyone.
As a day school with boarding, our boarders are immediately immersed into a wonderfully diverse community with pupils from across the UK, Europe and around the globe. Loughborough Grammar provides them with the best of both worlds, as a single-sex school on a co-educational campus. This means our pupils benefit from small classes and a learning environment designed to help them perform to their academic potential, and a co-curricular programme which sees them sharing opportunities and experiences with the girls at our neighbouring Loughborough High School. Weekend activities and cultural visits further enrich leisure time, while our award-winning Cultural Programme, recognised by the Boarding School Association, helps pupils embrace life in the UK.
Loughborough Grammar School is part of The Loughborough Schools Foundation, a Foundation of three schools and a nursery which operate under one governing body. This means that our boys benefit from exceptional shared facilities, including our state-of-the-art Music Department, cutting-edge STEM resources, a team of outstanding educators, diverse co-curricular programmes, excellent sports facilities, top-level coaching, nutritious catering, and a comprehensive transport service within our extensive catchment area.
Charitable status. Loughborough Grammar School is part of the Loughborough Schools Foundation, which is a Registered Charity, number 1081765, and a Company Limited by Guarantee, registered in England, number 4038033. Registered Office: 3 Burton Walks, Loughborough, Leics LE11 2DU.
