Admission. Glenalmond is a non-selective school, and offers both day and boarding. There is Second Form entry for pupils in Primary 7 and Glenalmond College is also popular as a Sixth Form option. The College welcomes children throughout the year into all year groups.
Curriculum. In the Second and Third Forms (Years 8 and 9, S1 and S2) all pupils take a wide range of subjects including English, Mathematics, History, Geography, French, Spanish or German, Latin or Ancient Civilisation, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Technology, Music, PSHCE, Drama, Art and ICT. In the Fourth and Fifth Forms, pupils may choose three options from a wide range of subjects (including Latin and Greek), along with the core subjects of Mathematics, English Language and Literature, French, and the three Sciences. Each pupil is guided by an academic tutor who meets regularly with their tutor group.
The Sixth Form curriculum is designed to allow pupils as wide a choice as possible with 21 A level subjects being offered and four Higher subjects. There are weekly lectures from outside speakers on social, economic, and cultural subjects that foster academic excellence across the age ranges and the William Bright Society promotes cross-year group discussions on relevant academic and moral issues.
Careers. Over 98% of pupils continue to university and around half of pupils go to Russell Group universities, with a good number gaining places at Oxbridge each year.
Art, Drama and Music. Music plays a central part in the life of the school: there is an Orchestra as well as smaller String, Woodwind Groups, Brass Groups, the pipe band and choirs. The Drama and Art departments flourish, in conjunction with the well-established Design and Technology Centre.

Combined Cadet Force. Glenalmond is proud of its Combined Cadet Force (CCF) with strong links with the Armed Forces. All pupils spend one year (Fourth Form) in the CCF and are given the option to join one of three services: The Royal Navy, the Army or The Royal Airforce. Cadets may volunteer to stay on longer.
Scholarships. Pupils with exceptional potential, who intend to join Glenalmond in our Second or Third Form, can apply for scholarships in their area of excellence. As well as the kudos of being a Glenalmond Scholar, successful applicants also benefit from a fee remission. The scholarships come in two forms: named Academic Scholarships; and College Scholarships in Art, Drama, Music, Piping or Sport. Sixth Form Scholarships are also available.
Remissions. A sibling discount policy recognises the burden of fees for more than one child at a time and is applied with a 5% remission for a second child, 20% remission for a third child, and 50% remission for a fourth (or more) child. Financial assistance is provided for serving members of the Armed Forces and members of the Clergy, both attracting an automatic 10% remission on fees.
