Music scholarships and Exhibitions at 11+
11+ candidates should have reached at least Grade 5 on their principal instrument and will be required to perform, sight-read, respond to aural tests and answer general questions relating to their music-making. Each scholarship is worth £60 per annum, plus free tuition on two instruments. Exhibitions consist of free tuition on one instrument only. For more details, please contact Mark Wilderspin, Director of Music, by emailing mdw@stpaulsschool.org.uk
Sports awards at 11+
Thanks to a generous donation from the Gissing Family, St Paul’s School is excited to be launching a number of sports awards which will be available for boys at the School from Autumn Term 2026. These awards will be for boys entering at 11+ and 16+, with plans to roll out scholarships for 13+ in 2027. Current pupils are eligible and encouraged to apply for these awards.
Each award will be worth £500/annum and will last for seven years. It would be dependent on a pupil demonstrating outstanding ability in at least two of the three major school’s sports; continuing participation with sport as a co-curricular activity and also representing the school at fixtures, competitions and events. This would be monitored on an annual basis by the Director of Sport at St Paul’s Juniors and the Director of Sport at St Paul’s School. Should a pupil be granted a 16+ award, this will replace this funding.

St Paul’s Prep School is the junior division for St Paul’s School (see entry in HMC section) and attracts bright, enthusiastic boys who are inquisitive and eager to learn.
Working closely alongside St Paul’s senior school to inform the curriculum ensures continuity and a more holistic learning experience, with some teaching staff working across both schools. Pupils at St Paul’s Prep School hold a place at St Paul’s School and transfer automatically at the end of Year 8, subject to ongoing good work and conduct, rather than a formal examination. Our aim is to offer a broad education to every pupil, along with the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities. Music, Art, Drama and Sport are all strong, but additional activities range from history and debating to chess, coding and cookery.
Boys join the School at 7+ and 11+. Seventy-two boys join Year 3 into four classes of 18. Thirty-six boys join in Year 7 creating a total of six classes in Years 7 and 8. Entrance at all levels is by competitive examination and interview. Means-tested bursaries are available at all points of entry.
St Paul’s Prep School sits on the south bank of the Thames. St Paul’s Prep School is on the same campus as St Paul's School. As of January 2026, the Prep School pupils will move into two major new state-of-the-art buildings, for which the construction has recently been completed.
Charitable status. St Paul’s School is a Registered Charity, number 1119619. The object of the charity is to promote the education of boys in Greater London.
