The School is situated in a superb country-house setting in the village of Witham-on-the-Hill, close to the Lincolnshire–Rutland border just eight miles from Stamford. Boarding is very popular (weekly and flexi are available from Year 4) and benefits from first-class provision within the original Queen Anne house at the heart of the School.
There is a teaching staff of 37, and additional visiting teachers for instrumental music. The maximum class size is 19 and pupils benefit from outstanding pastoral care across the school. The majority of pupils join at the Pre-Prep stage, and then continue through to Common Entrance. Pupils progress to their first-choice senior school both locally (Oundle, Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford) and further afield (Eton, Wycombe Abbey, Cheltenham Ladies College, Rugby, Marlborough, Shrewsbury and Stowe). The School has a proud and enviable scholarship record across a range of disciplines, including academic, art, drama, music and sport.
Facilities are outstanding with modern, purpose-built Prep and Pre-Prep teaching areas. Significant developments have taken place in the last four years, the most recent being a superb Sports Centre (that includes a Dance/Drama Studio and Fitness Suite), new ICT suites, a Treehouse and a new Games Room. The Stimson Hall, serving as a Concert Hall and Theatre, underpins a strong commitment to both Creative and Performing Arts. Most of the children learn one instrument or more and there are three bands and four choirs. Inclusivity is strong; within sport all Prep pupils represent the school on a regular basis each term. The standard is high, with teams regularly reaching National Finals in rugby, hockey, netball and cricket. An Olympic-size all-weather Astroturf complements magnificently maintained grass surfaces, including county-standard cricket facilities and a nine-hole golf course. The school has seen considerable growth in numbers in recent years and in almost every year group early registration is recommended.
Charitable status. Witham Hall School Trust is a Registered Charity, number 507070. It exists for the purpose of educating children.
