As a Catholic school in the Salesian tradition, the College provides a Home that welcomes; a Church where Gospel values are shared and lived out on a daily basis; a School which educates for Life and prepares for future success and realisation of individual potential; and a Playground where personal, social, moral, sporting and cultural enrichment, beyond the academic curriculum, takes place and where lasting friendships are formed. Therefore, the formation of character and the development of social conscience are at the heart of our mission. Students of other Christian denominations and religious faiths are warmly welcomed.
Salesian College forms well-educated, happy and well-rounded, confident young men and women; good Christians; honest citizens who are comfortable with themselves and those around them. Students are decent, courteous, selfless people; well equipped to take their place in and make a significant contribution to society.
Staff are caring and provide an excellent all-round education. Salesian has outstanding levels of academic, cultural, spiritual and physical achievement, exemplary student behaviour and a caring ethos. We are a happy and highly successful school.
Although selective, we admit students of a wide range and believe in the pursuit of excellence for all. As such, it caters excellently for all levels of ability, providing stretch for the most able and support for those with additional learning needs.
Excellent relationships between staff and students, and the students themselves, are a key feature of the College which seeks at all times to provide a holistic approach to the education and formation of those entrusted to our care.
The recent ISI Inspection report rated Salesian College as excellent in all areas, stating that, ‘The excellence of academic achievement owes much to the excellence of the curriculum and the teaching. Pupils find the collaborative approach of the teaching staff very helpful and supportive. Teachers know their pupils extremely well; they plan their lessons carefully to include a variety of approaches which succeed in engaging pupils’ interest and, in almost all cases, in enabling them to maintain strong progress.’
The school has its own chapel, chaplaincy and resident chaplain.
