Nestled in the heart of South-East London, St Olave’s Prep School offers a warm, nurturing and academically rigorous environment for children aged 3–11.
At St Olave’s Prep School, we don’t just educate; we nurture, inspire and empower every child who walks through our doors. Here, your child will be known and cherished as an individual, with their unique strengths celebrated and supported. Our warm, family-like community fosters an environment where children feel safe, respected and eager to learn. From our deceptively spacious grounds that encourage outdoor learning, to our exceptional pastoral care, we create a setting where every moment counts in your child’s development.
We believe in shaping not only knowledgeable minds but also compassionate hearts, building resilience, confidence and kindness in every child. Our carefully crafted curriculum and experienced teachers ensure that your child is fully prepared for their next steps in life, but without the pressures of ‘hothousing’. Instead, we focus on an enhanced, balanced education that ignites curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. At St Olave’s Prep School, we are proud of our exceptional academic results, which truly stand out – especially considering we are fully non-selective at all entry points. Despite our inclusive approach, our pupils consistently achieve outstanding outcomes at 11+, both in grammar and independent school exams. Last year, every single child who sat a selective 11+ exam passed at least one, showcasing the strength of our curriculum and the support we provide to each individual.
We are proud to welcome children from all backgrounds, as we believe that diversity enriches our school and helps every child thrive. At St Olave’s, we seek families who appreciate the importance of a cherished and nurturing childhood, one filled with a rich and aspirational curriculum that promotes creativity, curiosity and personal growth. We place strong emphasis on charity and community, encouraging our pupils to be kind, engaged citizens who make a positive impact and do good in the world.
In our purpose-built Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) building, we adopt a ‘curiosity approach’ that encourages children to explore, question and develop a deep love for discovery and learning. Our EYFS spaces are thoughtfully designed with open-ended resources, natural materials and engaging sensory play areas that spark imagination and allow children to lead their learning experiences. By nurturing each child's innate curiosity, we build a foundation of resilience, independence and enthusiasm that will support them throughout their school adventure.
Our specialist teachers bring their expertise to enrich our curriculum, inspiring children in Design Technology, Computing, Sports, Music, Outdoor Learning and Cooking. Language learning is a priority, and pupils explore French from an early age, and Spanish and Latin in later years, giving them a strong linguistic foundation and cultural awareness. These subjects provide hands-on, skills-based learning that cultivates creativity, resilience and a joy for exploration beyond core academics.
Choosing St Olave’s is about joining a community where your child’s happiness and success are at the heart of everything we do. We are more than a school – we are a home where dreams take flight and where every child’s journey is valued and celebrated. Let the adventure begin!
