The Prep and Pre-Prep Schools of Hurstpierpoint College (see entry in HMC section) share a beautiful 140-acre campus with the College. Although both Schools operate independently of the Senior School, having their own timetable, staff, buildings and Heads, the schools work closely together to offer a first-class programme of education for pupils from the age of 4 to 18.
The Prep School has joint use of many of the College’s superb facilities, including a 25-metre heated indoor swimming pool, new theatre, drama and dance studios, music school, large sports hall, tennis courts and three full-size Astroturf hockey pitches.
The aim of the Prep and Pre-Prep is to provide an outstanding education in a secure and happy environment.
The academic programme is exciting and innovative, with independent learning at the heart of teaching. The children are provided with an excellent grounding in the more traditional subjects and, as they progress through the school, they are encouraged to take more responsibility for their learning in order to develop the qualities and skills required for academic success in the Senior School.
The sports programme is extensive with netball, hockey, rugby, football, cricket, swimming, tennis, and athletics on offer. In addition, there is a wide-ranging activity programme which caters for the interests of all pupils.
The Music, Drama and Dance Departments are also very strong; about half the pupils learn musical instruments. The Preparatory School choir performs at the weekly Chapel service. There are at least three musicals or plays each year involving many children throughout the School.
The College has a dedicated Medical Centre with fully qualified staff.
Each year a number of scholarship awards are available for entry into Year 7 (11+).
Charitable status. Hurstpierpoint College is a Registered Charity, number 1076498. The College provides a Christian education to pupils between the ages of 4 and 18.
