Awarded ‘Independent Preparatory School of the Decade 2022’ by The Sunday Times, ‘The Best Prep School for Academic Results’ in The Week magazine 2023 and ‘Best School for Pastoral Care’ in The Week magazine 2018, the Junior School at Guildford High School is situated on the same site as the Senior School. It is a modern, bright, self-contained school with the third floor specially dedicated to Art, Music, Science, IT and the Library.
The girls normally start in the Reception classes (4 years) or at Year 3 (7 years), however, they are welcome in any year group depending on spaces available, and work their way through the Junior School with natural progression on to the Senior School at Year 7 (11 years).
The breadth and depth of the curriculum encompasses 15 fast-paced subjects, with an embedded thinking skills programme. Three modern foreign languages are included, with Spanish starting in Year 1 for five-year-olds. Music, Drama and Sport play an important part in the curricular and extracurricular programmes. Specialist teachers and resources are employed throughout the Junior School. Parents and teachers work closely together to ensure excellent differentiation and a nurturing environment with strong pastoral care.
Guildford High School Junior School girls are confident, happy and well prepared for entry to the Senior School. (See Guildford High School Senior School entry in HMC section.)
