Scholarships and Bursaries – Further Details
We believe in offering all children, who are ambitious and motivated, an education like no other. To help hard-working families and their children enjoy a Grange experience, we offer a number of bursaries and scholarships.
The Senior School awards a number of bursaries (reduced fees) for the start of each academic year for pupils applying for admission into Year 7 and Year 12. The bursaries, which are aimed specifically at the most able and talented children, are intended to make a Grange education more accessible and may cover up to 100% of school fees. All bursaries are means-tested and are based on parental income and assets and are awarded at the Head's discretion. A strong academic performance in the Year 7 Entrance Assessment is essential, as are sound GCSE results for students entering Year 12.

The Grange School is a co-educational independent school for 4–18 year olds. We are located in the heart of Cheshire, in the semi-rural village of Hartford, just south of Northwich.
At The Grange we ensure that our young people live their education by creating a learning environment where they are fully immersed in their school experience. Our hard-working, learner-focused teachers, outstanding facilities and broad enrichment opportunities ensure that every child receives an education that prepares them for life after school. They leave equipped with the tools to become ambitious, respectful and confident adults.
Junior School. The Grange Junior School provides an outstanding start to any child’s educational journey. We understand the importance of these formative years in the development of each young person and want every child to develop a love for school and for learning.
Our first priority is to provide a caring atmosphere in which the children can thrive and learn. This requires staff that welcome and understand each and every child, giving them – and their parents – the attention that they deserve. This allows us to help them successfully navigate their way through the inevitable difficulties of growing up and life in general. Happy children will learn.
We offer a learning programme from Reception to Year 6 that is designed to be both broad and flexible, creating a full, balanced education. Children develop particular academic interests and passions; ensuring they attain at the highest level of which they are capable. With a focus on staff development, an average class size of 21, a teaching staff: child ratio of 1:12 and modern, well-equipped facilities, it is no surprise our children consistently attain beyond expectation.
We enable our children to flourish as individuals; encouraging children to pursue their own interests and strengths. As well as sports and creative arts we offer leadership opportunities, the chance to engage in charitable events and hear from guest speakers. We also arrange numerous day trips and offer residential stays both in the UK and overseas.
Senior School. A Grange Senior School Education is all about unleashing our students' creative minds and developing their passions and skills to aid them in their futures through a curriculum that inspires.
Before students select their GCSE options, we make sure they have the opportunity to try every subject, from Maths to Food & Nutrition. We understand the value of educating students through a wide and varied curriculum. It is this that lets young people discover an unknown talent they can pursue and thrive in.
Students participate in the many Enrichment opportunities we provide and they understand the importance of this as a part of their education. We also have a dedicated Student Welfare and Support Team who are here for students to help them through any challenges they face.
We believe in educating the whole child. When students leave us, they are fully prepared for the adult world as open-minded, confident individuals because they were given the chance to live their education at The Grange.
Sixth Form. The Grange Sixth Form is transformational. Through developing their leadership and academic skills, our students leave as young, motivated individuals ready for adult life. We have an enviable academic record in helping our students achieve outstanding results and the majority go on to secure university places at the country’s top institutions. With a dedicated Careers Department, advice is always available. Whilst students are offered unrivalled support for their academic studies, they also enjoy greater freedom and independence, to prepare them for life after The Grange. The modern Sixth Form Centre provides a stimulating atmosphere where students can study, meet and socialise; further developing a deeper experience and community spirit based on the principles of self-management as well as collective responsibility.
Beyond the academic arena, there is a broad range of enrichment and leadership experiences for students. These include the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, a Peer Support scheme, our Extended Project Qualification as well as drama, music and sporting opportunities. Tolerance and mutual respect of others, in line with our values, are promoted and students are encouraged to support the wider community through volunteering and charitable activities. Above all, the Sixth Form is a happy place where students can explore academic curiosity in a motivating environment.
