Claires Court is a school for families, run by a family, providing education for young people aged 2 to 18 years. Based on three sites across Maidenhead, we are a broad ability ‘diamond model’ day school where boys and girls are educated separately during their main school years, but come together for trips and visits, while the Nursery School and Sixth Form pupils benefit from a co-educational learning environment.
It is the feeling of belonging and the school’s ethos that helps young people to thrive and flourish in our school community. At Claires Court, we treat everyone as an individual, evaluating each child’s ability to ensure we can enable them to reach their full potential, helping them to achieve great results, whether that is in the classroom, on the sports field or in the creative arena. By offering the best education, strong pastoral care and a wealth of opportunities, our pupils achieve academically, feel valued and have a strong sense of self-belief and self-worth.
Pupils have access to excellent facilities across the sites, with indoor swimming pools, drama studios, extensive playing fields and music suites. Senior pupils have access to top-class facilities for training and playing rugby, football, cricket and hockey through our partnership agreements with local sports clubs. Sailing and rowing are also part of our sport offering with much success in regional and national competitions.
At the core of our learning philosophy are the Claires Court Essentials. Right from Nursery we make learning fun but challenging and from that springboard we focus on developing a variety of skills and behaviours that young people need to be a successful learner and individual in our fast-paced world. As they mature, pupils are expected to stretch themselves, push their own boundaries and limitations; we believe it is good to be wrong as long as we learn from that experience and bounce back. We develop boys and girls who are confident and resilient, learners who are critical thinkers and risk-takers, who can solve problems and communicate, as well as be creative and work collaboratively with others.
In the Junior years, the creative, topic-based curriculum inspires a passion for learning and children quickly develop a taste for success. There is a focus on mastering the fundamental skills as well as academic attainment. Further up the school, the breadth and balance of the curriculum allows Senior pupils to develop new interests and talents before focusing on their GCSEs.
The Sixth Form offers just as much variety with more than 28 subjects including A levels and Level 3 BTECs. Claires Court is committed to excellence in sport. At Sixth Form, we offer performance programmes in a range of sports including rowing, tennis, netball, hockey, football and rugby. Our value added surpasses that of most other Sixth Forms, meaning our students achieve over and above their predicted grades. Alongside this, the team also offers development and training for the personal, social and work skills that are desired by universities and employers.
