Bursaries
Applying for financial assistance at Glenalmond is straightforward. All applicants will be invited to register via an online application portal as part of the Admissions process. Applications open in the autumn of each year for school admission in the following September. In the first instance a completed application, including documentary evidence of income, capital, and expenditure, should be submitted by 11 December. Applications submitted after this date may still be considered but any decision will be dependent on the availability of College bursary funds. Applications are first reviewed by the Chief Operating Officer in conjunction with Council members (College governors), but may be referred to an external third party - Bursary Administration Limited (BAL) - who will prepare an independent report and recommendation for the College if requested.
Applications are dealt with sensitively and in the strictest confidence, and indeed any offer and award is conditional upon reciprocal confidentiality. The transformational opportunities of a bursary at Glenalmond are supported by some extremely generous donors. We hope to increase this support, both in number and scale, as widening of access is such an important feature of the ethos of the College sibling discount policy recognises the burden of fees for more than one child at a time - please contact us for more information on our sibling discount. Financial assistance is provided for serving members of the Armed Forces and members of the Clergy, both attracting an automatic 10% remission on fees.

Religion. The College has an Episcopalian foundation and has a stunning Chapel, built in 1851. Pupils from a wide range of ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds are welcomed.
Admission. Glenalmond is a non-selective school, and offers both day and boarding. There is Second Form entry for pupils in Primary 7 and Glenalmond College is also popular as a Sixth Form option. The College welcomes children throughout the year into all year groups.
Curriculum. In the Second and Third Forms (Years 8 and 9, S1 and S2) all pupils take a wide range of subjects including English, Mathematics, History, Geography, French, Spanish, Latin or Ancient Civilisation, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Music, PSHCE, Drama, Art and Design Tech. In the Fourth and Fifth Forms, pupils may choose three options from a wide range of subjects (including Latin and Greek), along with the core subjects of Mathematics, English Language and Literature, French, and the three Sciences. Each pupil is guided by an academic tutor who meets regularly with their tutor group.
The Sixth Form curriculum is designed to allow pupils as wide a choice as possible with 20 A levels, 2 BTEC, 14 Highers and 11 Advanced Highers on offer in 2025–2026. There are weekly lectures from outside speakers on social, economic and cultural subjects that foster academic excellence across the age ranges, and the William Bright Society promotes cross-year group discussions on relevant academic and moral issues.
Careers. Over 98% of pupils continue to university and around half of pupils go to Russell Group universities, with 14% obtaining places at the UNiversity of St Andrews in 2025, the second-best university in the UK according to the Times and the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026.
Art, Drama and Music. Music plays a central part in the life of the school: there is an Orchestra as well as smaller String, Woodwind Groups, Brass Groups, the pipe band and choirs. The Drama and Art departments flourish, in conjunction with the well-established Design and Technology Centre.
Sport and recreation. There is a wide variety of sporting activities to choose from including rugby, hockey, cross-country, cricket, athletics, shooting, tennis and golf. There is a large indoor heated swimming pool and squash courts, tennis courts, a nine-hole (James Braid designed) golf course, and a world-class, water-based Astroturf pitch for hockey. The College has an indoor golf hub, complete with simulation screens. The ski slopes of Glenshee are just over an hour away.
Combined Cadet Force. Glenalmond is proud of its Combined Cadet Force (CCF) with strong links with the Armed Forces. All pupils spend one year (Fourth Form) in the CCF and are given the option to join one of three services: The Royal Navy, the Army or The Royal Air Force. Cadets may volunteer to stay on longer.
