Radnor House Sevenoaks is an independent, co-educational day school for pupils aged 2 to 18. Formerly Combe Bank, the school adopted its current name in 2016. The school combines strong academic ambition with a commitment to celebrating every individual. (See also Preparatory School entry in the IAPS section.)
Aims and ethos. Radnor House Sevenoaks is committed to delivering an academically rigorous education within a culture that prioritises intellectual curiosity, personal ambition and character development. The school’s mission is to future-proof pupils – equipping them with the academic excellence, digital fluency and interpersonal and leadership skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
High expectations permeate all aspects of school life. Academic achievement sits at the core of the Radnor experience, supported by expert teaching, purposeful stretch-and-challenge and a culture that celebrates scholarship. Pupils also benefit from the school’s strong emphasis on emotional intelligence, global awareness and leadership.
The school’s values of excellence, respect, courage and perseverance form the moral framework that guides pupils from their earliest years through to Sixth Form. Pupil wellbeing and happiness remain central, based on the school’s firm belief that confident, balanced children achieve more and contribute more. Radnor House continues to pioneer high-quality digital learning through its partnership with Microsoft as a flagship school, ensuring that pupils develop the technological capabilities essential for success in the world ahead.
Location. The school is located in a striking Palladian mansion set within 28 acres of parkland just outside Sevenoaks. All sections of the school – Nursery, Prep, Senior and Sixth Form – share the same picturesque site, enabling a seamless educational journey from age 2 to 18 and fostering strong cross-school connections.
Curriculum. Radnor House Sevenoaks offers a modern, academically ambitious curriculum designed to inspire high achievement and deep subject mastery. In the Senior School, English, Mathematics, Sciences and a Modern Foreign Language are compulsory at GCSE, providing a strong academic foundation. Pupils may then select from a broad range of subjects including Art, Computer Science, Drama, Economics, English Literature, Religious Studies, Geography, History, Mathematics, iMedia, Business, Modern Languages, Music, PE, Psychology, Science, Sociology and Photography.
The school’s Art department is particularly strong, supported by an innovative graphic design suite, and the Performing Arts faculty enjoys wide participation with regular high-quality drama and musical productions. Sport is a vibrant part of school life, with notable competitive success in football, hockey, cricket and swimming. A 25-metre indoor pool supports a thriving swimming programme from Nursery to Sixth Form.
Outdoor and Adventurous Education is fully integrated into the curriculum: Forest School and Bushcraft form an important part of the Prep School experience, while Senior pupils engage in Outdoor Education and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Admission. Children may enter the Prep School in Nursery from age 2, with further key entry points at Reception and Year 4. Senior School entry is via entrance examinations at 11+ and 13+, with the option of deferred entry at 13+. For Sixth Form, places are available based on strong GCSE performance, with subject-specific grade expectations in place.
Transport. The school operates six private bus routes covering all surrounding areas, payable termly.
