Wimbledon Common Preparatory School is a pre-prep for boys situated in Wimbledon village, south-west London. It was founded in 1919 as a preparatory school for King’s College School and other local prep schools. It moved to its present site in 1957. In 2006 it was bought by the King’s College School and is now part of their Co-operation. WCPS is governed by the King’s College Co-operation and benefits greatly from their shared facilities.
The school aims to provide challenging, exciting and modern learning and teaching; to develop an intrinsic love of learning: to offer exciting extracurricular activities; to engender a culture that promotes self-confidence, generosity, respect for others and a strong sense of community; to instil skills that will enable pupils to make a positive contribution to their wider global society; to develop strong parent and family partnerships.
The school teaches boys aged from four to seven years, broadly following an accelerated curriculum designed to prepare each child fully for their next school.
Charitable status. Wimbledon Common Prep School is owned by King’s College School, which is a Registered Charity, number 310024.
