Established in 1873, Yarlet stands in 33 acres of grounds in unspoiled open countryside 3 miles north of Stafford. The school offers small classes, enthusiastic, qualified teachers, excellent facilities and a warm, friendly environment conducive to active learning. All teachers keep fully abreast of senior school entry requirements and ensure that pupils are prepared for the next stage of their education.
Pupils have access to a wide range of facilities which include a new, state-of-the-art Science Laboratory, an Information Technology Centre, a CDT Centre, a purpose-built Art Studio, an indoor Sports Hall; and extensive outdoor facilities which include a large Forest School area, a heated swimming pool, four playing fields (for football, tag-rugby, hockey, cricket and athletics), three tennis courts, a netball court, an all-weather Astroturf pitch (for football, hockey and netball) and a cross-country running course. These facilities support an extensive sports curriculum, which features a one-hour daily games lesson run by a team of qualified sports coaches.
Music and Drama complete the picture of a Yarlet education, with termly performances from the Music Department. The arts are brought to life at Yarlet, instilling self-belief and creative confidence in all our pupils. Whatever their talent, Yarlet pupils have the chance to shine. Clubs and extracurricular activities are a further feature of Yarlet and include Music, Drama, Computing, Poetry, Golf, Tennis, Cricket, Football, STEM, Dance, Gymnastics, Fitness and Animal Kingdom.
Yarlet has high expectations of all its children. Children are prepared for entry to a wide variety of senior schools and their achievements in Common Entrance and Scholarship examinations are a source of great pride. In 2022, 82% of children left with one or more award/s to their Senior School.
