Established in 1925, Tanglin Trust School is the oldest British international school in Southeast Asia, and will celebrate its Centenary this school year. The school provides the English National Curriculum with an international perspective to children from 3 to 18 years in Singapore.
Tanglin is a vibrant co-educational school of 2,850 students representing over 50 nationalities and provides a unique learning environment for children from Nursery right through to Sixth Form. As a not-for-profit school, tuition fees are devoted to the provision of an outstanding education.
As the only school in Singapore to offer dual pathways of A Levels or the IB Diploma in Sixth Form, all of Tanglin’s Sixth Formers study a programme that is tailored both to the subjects they are passionate about and to the style of learning that most suits them, ensuring they thrive and flourish.
Tanglin has an excellent academic reputation. Students’ examination results consistently surpass Singapore and global averages, with around 96% of graduates typically receiving their first or second choice university, which are among the best in the world.
Tanglin is inspected every year within the British Schools Overseas (BSO) framework, recognised by Ofsted. All three schools have been awarded ‘Outstanding’, the highest possible grade in their latest inspections (2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022).
The Centenary Building which opened in 2023 is an inspirational new addition to the campus. The new building houses a 50m swimming pool, physio and fitness facilities, a gymnastics centre, an extensive Music Department and Tanglin’s award-winning Institute.
Tanglin offers the Centenary Music Scholarship as part of its thriving music programme, which includes overseeing up to 80 musical performances across the year, ranging from informal pop-up concerts and ad hoc recitals to much larger events featuring hundreds of students.
The Institute @ Tanglin, is an award-winning forum that provides thought leadership and encourages discourse to inspire, challenge and ultimately prepare its students for the future. The Institute also facilitates industry-led workshops as well as intrapreneurship programmes, both of which provide students with real-world experience and insights.
Tanglin is committed to providing a holistic education and encourages broad participation and the achievement of excellence in the arts, sports, outdoor education and co-curricular activities. To this end, it has introduced the Highlands Programme at its new Tanglin Gippsland 15-acre campus in Australia. A 5-week immersive learning experience tailor-made for Year 9 students which will promote wellbeing and active participation in outdoor activities.
Tanglin has a thriving and energetic Arts programme which plays an important part in school life. Students develop their skills in art, design, drama, music, and film-making, facilitating creative, social and intellectual development
The co-curricular programme is at the heart of Tanglin’s holistic education. It aims to develop students’ talents outside of the classroom, offer academic challenges, nurture well-being and encourage contribution to the wider community.
The school sees over 95% of the school community participating in at least one weekly activity. Tanglin says that high participation fosters a vibrant and dynamic school community in which students explore interests and develop new skills.
‘My Tanglin education has been so broad and varied, alongside my IB studies the school has supported my various interests whether it’s leading the organisation of a Tedx conference, or participating in the annual school musical – the opportunities are endless!’ Rohan S, Lead Student (24/25)
