Snaresbrook Preparatory School is a vibrant independent day school for boys and girls aged from 3½ to 11 years. Founded in the 1930s, the school occupies a substantial Victorian building, once a large private family home – something that contributes to the strong community spirit within the school. We aim to cultivate an intimate, caring family atmosphere in which children feel secure and valued. Snaresbrook Values have been introduced and embedded by the current Head – they include Respect, Enjoyment and Excellence. The values are posted all around the School and even on the hopscotch in the playground!
The Lower Foundation Stage is extremely popular and is our main point of entry. Most children join the school at age 3½ and stay with us until they reach 11 when they leave for their senior schools.
We provide a rounded education covering every aspect of your child’s early development. The curriculum has broadened in the last few years and is designed to prepare pupils for life as well as entrance and scholarship examinations to senior independent and grammar schools. The curriculum includes Mathematics, English, Science, Current Affairs, ICT, Art, DT, Music, Drama, French, PE/Games, RE, Wellbeing and PSHEE. Latin and Swimming are introduced in the Juniors.
Areas such as Music, Drama, Sport, Computing and Languages are very strong and are led by passionate specialists. Ambitious School Development Plans have moved the School forward. At age 11, we find that Snaresbrook children are confident, cheerful and courteous, with a good sense of community and a readiness to care for each other and the world around them. They have learned how to work in the ways that suit them best, are receptive to teaching and are well prepared for the next stage of their education and development. We see ourselves as joint trustees, with parents, of the young lives in our care, bearing equal responsibility for their happiness, wellbeing and development.
In 2017, Snaresbrook came through its Regulatory Compliance Inspection fully compliant and without any action needed. The school feeds many of the top independent schools in the area including the City of London Schools, Forest, Chigwell and Bancroft’s.
Anyone interested in the School is encouraged to contact the office to book a personal tour.
