Founded in 1926, St Wystan’s is a co-educational preparatory day school for pupils aged 4 to 11 years of age. The School is situated in the village of Repton and is only a short distance from Burton-on-Trent and the city of Derby.
St Wystan’s is a thriving non-selective school that prides itself on its reputation for producing happy, confident and successful children. Every child is recognised and cherished for their individual strengths and characteristics in an inspiring and warm learning environment. Dedicated staff encourage a love for learning, and warm, respectful relationships are nurtured between the pupils, their peers and the staff. The children enjoy going to school and the staff relish having the opportunity to share learning experiences, adventures and interests.
St Wystan’s has a varied and stimulating curriculum so that pupils can develop, be happy and flourish. Specialist teaching in Music, Physical Education, French and Woodland School is introduced from Reception through to Year 6, with Drama introduced for Years 3 to 6 and Science from Form 1.
St Wystan’s provides a comprehensive level of pastoral care through popular wraparound care and smaller class sizes, which ensures each child receives a tailored learning experience to prepare for the wider world with confidence. There are a range of extracurricular clubs and many pupils undertake individual instrumental, music and LAMDA tuition.
The School enjoys an excellent reputation in music, sport and drama, with pupils progressing to regional and national championships in swimming, tennis, athletics and music competitions. There is a thriving choir and pupils are actively encouraged to participate in clubs and groups in the wider community.
The benefits of a holistic education are valued and implemented to equip pupils with strong academic standards and behaviour, but also the essential qualities and skills required beyond their time at our school. The School has strong links with local secondary independent and state schools, and leavers have an excellent reputation for securing scholarship offers and first-choice destinations.
St Wystan’s benefits from being part of the Repton Family of Schools and pupils are fortunate to be able to share world-class facilities, including a Sports Centre with 25 m swimming pool.
Beyond St Wystan’s. The School has a real gift for unlocking potential. Pupils achieve outstanding results with all 2024 leavers achieving their first choice of independent senior school and a number of scholarships being awarded across academia, creative arts, drama and sport. Pupils move on to a range of senior schools in the surrounding area, both in the state and independent sectors.
Charitable status. St Wystan’s School Limited is a Registered Charity, number 527181. It exists to provide a quality education for both boys and girls.
