Established in 1946, St Peter’s is a small day school set in secure and beautifully green grounds in a quiet residential area of Kettering. It offers an enriched education based upon Christian values for boys and girls from the term of their third birthday to age 11. Pupils are thoroughly prepared for entry to a secondary school of their choice and have a high rate of success in entrance and scholarship examinations.
The School is situated in a leafy part of Kettering, which has excellent transport links via road and rail. Housed in the former family home of William Timpson, the school occupies a beautiful and secure campus. The School has grown from its 1946 beginnings, and now houses St Peter's Preschool, Reception and KS1 within the gardens of the Victorian house. The latest building is a new eco teaching space housing Art and the wraparound care facility in the Cedar Hub.
With academic excellence at our core, in addition to fulfilling the requirements of the National Curriculum, the School emphasises the importance of Music, Art, Sport and Technology in its curriculum, providing children with a wide and rich spectrum of opportunities in which to thrive. Many of our children take part in additional instrumental lessons ranging from violin to saxophone, and all children from Year 2 upwards swim every Friday.
St Peter’s School is a lively, friendly school with a strong family atmosphere and our highest pastoral care is noted at inspection. The School encourages all children to develop their individual strengths and talents. It aims to promote a respect for traditional values, a sense of responsibility and a concern for the needs of others. Each child is encouraged and nurtured to fulfil their own potential. Inspection reports detail the excellent progress made together with a strong extracurricular activity timetable.
Charitable status. St Peter’s School is a Registered Charity, number 309914. It was originally incorporated in 1946 with an intention to maintain and manage a school for boys and girls in the town of Kettering. In addition to this it provides local employment and seeks to source from the local community wherever economically viable.
