Established in September 2002, The Roman Ridge School aims to provide the very best of British Education whilst being firmly rooted in Ghanaian life and culture. The school is a unique facility in Ghana as it offers small class sizes (20), individual pupil attention, a family atmosphere, firm discipline, emphasis on good manners, a sound Christian foundation, a caring environment and a full programme of Sports and extra-curricular activities.
The school is noted for its Individual Learning Programmes and its dedication to all pupils including the high and low ability learners and scholars. Pupils are carefully monitored and assessed regularly in order to achieve academic success and parents are encouraged to help in this process.
All teaching is initially based on the English National Curriculum for the Foundation Course and Key Stage One, after which the pupils progress to the 11+ examination, then take the full range of academic subjects at the 13+ Common Entrance and the IGCSE Courses (Cambridge Assessment International Education). The school runs a thriving AS & A Level programme and offers a comprehensive range of courses.
There are forty-two classrooms at present, three ICT suites, two Multimedia Centres, two up-to-date Libraries with full audio-visual facilities, E-Learning facilities, Primary & Secondary Science Labs, a Dance Studio, a Drama Studio, two Art Rooms and sporting facilities. Two clinics are on site staffed by two qualified SRNs.
Pupils play Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Netball, Hockey and Rounders and also enjoy a very successful Swimming programme. Pupils also benefit from an extensive extra-curricular programme which includes Karate, Ballet, Tennis, Drama Club and a highly successful Choir programme, which includes a Parent Choir. School productions and concerts take place at the end of each term.
The school also runs an excellent internal and external Community Literacy Programme, with Senior Pupils spearheading reading programmes for all age groups.
The school is open on Saturdays for extra work and pupil support programmes, swimming, games, music lessons, art and computer clubs, and special events.
Pupils thrive in The Roman Ridge School and are reluctant to go home at the end of the day.
