Prospect House is a leading co-educational prep school with a village feel, overlooking Putney Heath in south-west London. We provide a bespoke curriculum which is designed and delivered to be intellectually exciting, academically engaging and imaginatively stimulating.
The school enjoys two large sites on Putney Hill situated just a short walk apart. Children aged 3 to 7 years occupy the Lower School and children aged 7 to 11 years are based in the Upper School. Both sites have large grounds including all-weather sports pitches. There are multipurpose halls where assemblies, music concerts, gymnastics and drama productions take place together with dedicated rooms for music, computing, art and DT.
Children join the school at 3 or 4 years old and admittance is by date of registration, with priority given to siblings of pupils already in the school. Occasional places for older children higher up the school are sometimes available. An equal balance of boys and girls is kept throughout the school. Children are prepared for a wide range of leading day and boarding schools for entry at 11 years old, with a high number of students taking academic, all-rounder, music and sports scholarships.
Core subjects are complemented by a wide range of arts, languages and humanities as well as a keen focus on sport and PE. To ensure personal attention, the ratio of staff to pupils is high. Without exception, our teachers are highly qualified and ably supported by our carefully chosen team of teaching assistants. We have an extensive range of specialist teachers covering maths, English, computing, French, music, physical education, art & design technology, drama and Latin. Other highly trained staff are available to identity and support children who may display specific learning needs. Specialist staff such as speech therapists are also available to work with pupils.
Our dynamic staff and external specialists offer over 40 different clubs each term catering to a wide range of interests. The variety and quality of the club provision encourages the learning and development of new skills and helps to develop friendships with children in other year groups. Residential trips, day outings, workshops and visiting performers enhance and embed curriculum learning.
