Prestfelde is one of the UK’s leading Prep schools. Children benefit from the nurturing environment, first-class facilities, and progressive, high-quality education. We pride ourselves on providing the best school experience a child can have, one that enriches their happiness in school, enables them to pursue their individual interests, and develops confidence to grow into the person they want to be. Our excellent teachers build trusting relationships and impart their knowledge through inspirational teaching and learning experiences. Guiding and transforming pupils through a broad range of experiential learning; children at Prestfelde gain the skills, qualities, and knowledge to set them up to succeed.
Situated in the heart of Shrewsbury, the beautiful tree-lined site extends over 30 acres and is an inspirational environment for children to learn.
Academic highlights are underlined by the level of success and quality of scholarships gained by pupils to a range of leading senior schools. In 2025, Year 8 pupils achieved consistently high pass rates at Common Entrance, with 100% of Year 8 children successfully gaining places to their first-choice senior schools. Each year, pupils gain scholarships to a number of aspirational independent schools, covering every section of the curriculum from academics, art, design, technology, and drama to music and sport.
While many pupils maintain high levels of competitive sport in their disciplines, we recognise the importance of children enjoying the challenges of team sport at school. Outstanding coaching and mentoring in football, netball, rugby, hockey and cricket have encouraged pupils to become outstanding team players. Additional hours of coaching in these and other sports, together with physical education lessons, swimming (on site) and outdoor fitness by specialist coaches, enhance the physical wellbeing of Prestfelde pupils, resulting in the enjoyment of competition in a variety of sporting environments.
The extracurricular offering at Prestfelde is designed to build on children’s experiences with the aim of improving outcomes in all areas of their learning. Purposefully building on pupils’ interests, we aim to light that spark for learning and to develop talents. Activities range from outdoor gardening to construction and Minecraft. Pupils enjoy the many and varied Inter-House competitions, and the friendly rivalry enhances the will and enjoyment of achievement.
