Founded in 1935.
Prenton Preparatory School is an ISI excellent-rated, co-educational day school for children aged 2–11 years, situated on the Wirral, about a mile from Junction 3 of the M53.
The building is a large Victorian house which has been carefully converted into the use of a school. There is a large playground and gardens. Facilities include an ICT/Science block and an Art block. The Foundation Stage outdoor play area is also a valuable addition to the school.
The children benefit from small classes and individual attention in a holistic approach to their education within a disciplined environment, which enables them to realise their full potential.
The school offers a broad curriculum covering the whole National Curriculum and with a particular emphasis on the three main National Curriculum core subjects: English, Mathematics and Science. French is taught from an early age and swimming forms a regular part of the curriculum from Year 1 upwards.
Children are prepared for entrance examinations to county, independent and grant-maintained grammar schools, gaining well above average pass rates.
Childcare facilities are available from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm. Clubs are provided at lunchtime and after school. They include football, cricket, computers and technology, karate, swimming, dance, netball, music group, speech & drama and musical instruments.
The school has a wide range of sporting teams that compete in local and regional fixtures and competitions. These include: swimming, water polo, cross country, football, netball, cricket, rounders and athletics. Several of these teams have been successful enough to qualify for National tournaments in recent years.
Art, drama, dance and music also play an important part in school life and parents and members of the wider school community enjoy the regular performances that are part of the annual calendar.
Prenton Prep Nursery is now open 50 weeks a year for busy working parents.
