Founded in 1955, as the first all-girls' school in the United Kingdom to adopt the International Baccalaureate curriculum (Middle Years Programme and IB Diploma Programme), Marymount International School London welcomes curious, motivated and academically ambitious students from a diverse range of faiths and cultural backgrounds.
Located just 12 miles from central London, with excellent school and public transport links to surrounding areas, Marymount offers both day and boarding (full, weekly and flexi) options. Heathrow and Gatwick airports are both within easy reach.
Consistently achieving significantly above the global points average and currently ranked in the top 2% of IB Schools worldwide, Marymount offers a broad, holistic, academically challenging programme that encourages critical thinking, collaborative learning and global contextualisation. Small classes and a stimulating teaching environment ensure that students are appropriately challenged and encouraged to develop their intellectual potential and grow in confidence as independent thinkers.
The Middle Years Programme (Grades 6 to 10, equivalent to UK Years 7–11), encourages students to draw meaningful connections between eight broad and varied subject groups. With a central focus on the development of conceptual understanding and effective approaches to learning (ATL) skills, the MYP is a student-centred, inquiry-based programme rooted in interdisciplinary learning.
The IB Diploma Programme (Grades 11 and 12, equivalent to UK Sixth Form), builds on the strong foundation of the MYP. Students study six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, in addition to the Core (Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and CAS – Creatively, Activity and Service). Graduates of the IBDP leave Marymount to take up university placements at a range of top universities, both in the UK and around the world.
Marymount’s beautiful seven-acre garden campus provides outstanding facilities, including a STEAM Hub, Sports Hall, Dance Studio, tennis courts and an all-weather pitch. Boarding facilities are modern and well-appointed, with rooms for 2, 3 and 4 students, each with a dedicated bathroom.
Main entry points are Grade 6 (11+) and Grade 11 (Sixth Form), although year-round rolling admission into all year groups is offered according to availability of places. The admissions process includes written assessments in Maths and English, an individual interview (either in person or online), and copies of the last two years’ school reports. A reference from the current school will also be requested.
Prospective families are invited to contact the Admissions Team at admissions@marymountlondon.com or on 020 8949 05712 for further information or to arrange a campus tour.
