Established in 1920, Manor House School, Bookham is an Independent (private) School for girls aged 4–16 with a co-educational (boys and girls) Nursery and Lower Prep. A member of the GSA (Girls’ Schools Association), Manor House School is a smaller, nurturing through-school delivering great academic results alongside a thriving extra/co-curricular programme. For more information on recent academic results, please visit www.manorhouseschool.org/academic-results.
Manor House is one of three Schools in the Effingham Schools Partnership, which forms a dynamic triumvirate. Effingham Schools Trust’s diamond model offers benefits of the Co-Ed classroom to very young pupils, the benefits of single-sex education in later Prep and Secondary years, before returning to a Co-Educational Sixth Form. Families joining the Trust will have provision for boys and/or girls from 2–18 years across the three Schools.
Seven school values form the foundations of school life: Academic Excellence, A Love of Learning, Happy and Healthy, Individual Challenge, Creative and Collaborative, Unforgettable Experiences and Future Leaders. The school motto ‘To Love is to Live’ was chosen in 1921 by the Bishop of Plymouth, Dr Masterman, who was a close friend of one of the school’s original founders.
Manor House School pupils enjoy high levels of success across academic subjects as well as Sport (boasting some future world-class soccer players, cyclists, triathletes and tennis stars in its midst) and the creative and expressive arts, with additional music, singing and drama lessons a popular choice. An extensive co-curricular enrichment programme provides clubs and activities every term for every pupil to enjoy.
Facilities include an award-winning Nursery, Wellbeing Centre, Forest School, a large indoor hall which hosts sporting events and professional level theatre productions, an outdoor Swimming pool, a Tennis Academy, Netball courts and purpose-built science blocks.
Admission at Year 3 and Year 7 is by the School’s own Entrance Examinations. Other main entry points are at Reception Class, although the school welcomes mid-year applications to other entry years, subject to the availability of places. Selection is determined by successful completion of an age-appropriate taster and Assessment Day. Offers are made following the outcome of this process at the discretion of the Headteacher.
Academic, Art, Drama, Music and Sport Scholarships are awarded at Year 7.
All Scholarships are awarded based on performance in the Entrance Examinations (preceding September entry) and attendance or submissions at our Scholarship Assessment Days. For an application pack, please contact: admissions@manorhouseschool.org.
