Kingham Hill School is an independent, co-educational, day and boarding school for pupils aged 11–18. Set in 105 acres of glorious Cotswold countryside, it provides the perfect environment in which to study, relax and be active. With Kingham station on the school’s doorstep, Oxford, Worcester and Evesham are short train rides away, with London Paddington just 90 minutes direct.
The school prides itself on its commitment to the individual. Every pupil is valued and encouraged to develop their own character and talents to the full. Confidence and maturity are nurtured by experienced academic and pastoral staff, in an atmosphere of opportunity and enquiry, with excellent structures of care in a stunning country setting.
Helping every pupil fulfil their academic potential has long been a hallmark of Kingham Hill. With consistently high percentages of top grades at both GCSE and A level, Kingham is routinely in the top 5% of schools nationally for value-added. Each year the majority of Sixth Form leavers secure places at their first-choice destinations both in the UK and overseas.
Education at Kingham Hill is, however, about so much more than qualifications, important though they are. It is also about equipping young people with qualities that will help them flourish in life beyond the Hill. There is something for everyone, with over 60 regular clubs and activities on offer to educate, enrich, challenge and engage pupils of all ages.
Equipped to Flourish (ETF) is the foundation upon which everything at Kingham Hill is built, underpinned by the school’s informal motto, ‘work hard, play hard, serve well’. The four character traits of the Equipped to Flourish programme (Responsibility, Integrity, Humility, Resilience) are woven into every aspect of school life with the aim of supporting pupils as they grow and develop in character, enabling them to flourish both at school and beyond. With a focus on service and helping, Kingham Hill pupils look up and out. The emphasis is on the school’s leavers to be defined by their moral compass and their ability to understand; not only their own value, but the value of others.
Every pupil belongs to one of 11 houses that act as large, extended families. There are four Day Houses and seven Boarding Houses which have their own inviting social lounges, games rooms and quiet rooms. House Parents and pastoral teams ensure a smooth transition into life at the school, helping pupils settle into their Houses while adapting to life in and out of the classroom.
With the majority of boarders being full time, weekends are vibrant times on the Hill. The strong community spirit continues with house activities, trips and expeditions. There is the option of weekly boarding – with pupils returning home on Friday evening – and ad-hoc boarding is also available.
Message from the Head. The best advertisements for a school are its children, and if you ask current parents why they chose Kingham Hill for their son or daughter, they invariably speak of the impression that friendly, happy, and well-balanced pupils made on them when visiting us.
If you would like to know more, I would encourage you to come and visit us to see our school for yourself. One of our Sixth Form pupils will tour your round our school site, providing you with a ‘pupil’s eye view’. By doing this we hope you will be able to appreciate the core values that lie at the heart of life here on the Hill, and show you why we could be the right choice for your family.

However, we know life does not always allow for these timelines and are happy to offer admission into other year groups where availability and suitability allows.
• Step One – Enquiry
The first step in our Admissions process is to make an initial enquiry and to come and visit the school. This can be done by contacting our Registrar at registrar@kinghamhill.org
• Step Two – Registration
Following an initial enquiry, the next step in the process is Registration which is a formal application to join the School by completing our online Registration Form and providing a Registration Fee payment.
• Step Three – Entrance Assessments
Once a pupil is registered, the Admissions Team will arrange the relevant age-appropriate entrance testing, including English language testing for international pupils. This can be carried out in a number of ways, including remotely with Kingham Hill School staff.
• Step Four – Entrance Interview
The final step in the process is an entrance interview, with the Headmaster, or a member of our Senior Academic Team.
• Step Five – Outcome
Once all elements of the admissions process have been completed, we will then be in a position to advise as to whether or not we will be able to offer a place. We seek to ensure that all prospective pupils will thrive at the School and as such, we regret that not all applications will be successful. Waiting Lists may also be in operation from time to time and, if this is the case, our Admissions Team will do all that they can to support families with up-to-date information on the likelihood of future enrolment.
