Candidates in Year 2 at state primary schools are encouraged to apply for a 7+ Bursary. There is one place available each September for a child to join Eaton House Belgravia in Year 3. Boys remain at the school until the end of Year 6, with the potential to transfer to Eaton House, Clapham, for years 7 and 8.
The bursaries are valid for the whole of the child’s time at school, as long as the family continues to meet the financial criteria associated with the bursary scheme. As a guide, a 100% bursary is most likely to be awarded to a family with a total household income of £42,500 or less, whose only major asset is their home.
A bursary is worth 100% of school fees, which include lunches, stationery and day trips. Residential trips are also included, as is support for uniform and equipment costs.
To be eligible for an award, parents and children must be legally resident in the United Kingdom for the duration of the award and live within 10 miles (as the crow flies) of the School. Awards are made against the following criteria.
The child’s performance at assessment day:
Positive reference from their current primary school
Positive performance in interview with the Head of the school they are applying to
Strong performance in 7+ examinations (Maths, English and a standardised cognitive ability assessment)
Attention will be given to the academic assessment results of each applicant, with consideration given to potential as well as actual achievement. The pupil must be deemed by the Head to be likely to make sound academic progress following admission and benefit from participation in the wider life of the school.
The family’s financial and other circumstances:
Meeting the financial criteria associated with the bursary scheme
Other mitigating factors may also be considered, including individual family and individual health circumstances
An award is granted at the sole discretion of the Foundation. The Foundation’s decision is final.
For more information on the application process please visit: www.eatonhouseschools.com/eaton-house-foundation/applicants. The Foundation’s Grant Award Policy including the terms and conditions associated with a bursary is available here. Application forms are available here.

Eaton House Belgravia is an outstanding independent boys’ school and co-educational nursery, educating children between the ages of 2 and 8. Founded in 1897, the school has become part of the very fabric of Chelsea and Belgravia, offering a diverse and intellectually stimulating education in the heart of London, and providing boys with the ‘Belgravia Edge’.
The School is a superhighway for 7+ and 8+ and examinations. The school is ambitious for its pupils, committed to igniting each boy’s potential beyond academic excellence, into the realms of first-rate music, drama, creative arts and sport. As a result, boys achieve extraordinary results each year. In 2024, an impressive 13 boys received 7+ offers from Westminster Under, St Paul’s School and King’s College, Wimbledon.
Mr Ross Montague joined Eaton House Belgravia from Hampstead Hill School as Head Teacher in January 2024. He has maintained the traditional academic values of Eaton House Belgravia, while bringing a fresh eye to the school, building on the school’s philosophies of ‘stretch and support’ and ‘school from 2+’.
Boys will experience a happy, confident and ambitious start to their education, in a traditional, yet modern and welcoming academic environment. Wellbeing is central to the school’s philosophy and the ‘teachers have a lovely supportive dynamic’ – The Good Schools Guide (2024). Staff prioritise the mental health of their pupils and, in turn, happy children achieve great results. The Good Schools Guide (2024) says, ‘Pastoral care is excellent, accommodating and proactive, picking up on any potential anxieties very quickly.’ Therefore, each pupil is well supported to start their academic career and journey into adulthood.
Entrance procedure. Entrance to the nursery and reception is non-selective. Registration is accepted from birth and early application is advised. Boys and girls are welcomed to the nursery in the September following their second birthday. The majority of the nursery pupils go on to attend reception, where they are joined by those who register for 4+ entry.
For Years 1 to 3, children registered to join Eaton House Belgravia after the initial reception entry point will be invited to visit the school for an admissions assessment before a place can be offered (subject to availability).
