Candidates in Year 2 at state primary schools are encouraged to apply for a 7+ Bursary. There is one place available each September for a child to join Eaton House The Manor Pre-Prep in Year 3, who would then move up to the Prep School. Boys remain at the school until the end of Year 8.
The bursaries are valid for the whole of the child’s time at school, as long as the family continues to meet the financial criteria associated with the bursary scheme. As a guide, a 100% bursary is most likely to be awarded to a family with a total household income of £42,500 or less, whose only major asset is their home.
A bursary is worth 100% of school fees, which include lunches, stationery and day trips. Residential trips are also included, as is support for uniform and equipment costs.
To be eligible for an award, parents and children must be legally resident in the United Kingdom for the duration of the award and live within 10 miles (as the crow flies) of the School. Awards are made against the following criteria.
The child’s performance at assessment day:
Positive reference from their current primary school
Positive performance in interview with the Head of the school they are applying to
Strong performance in 7+ examinations (Maths, English and a Standardised cognitive ability assessment)
Attention will be given to the academic assessment results of each applicant, with consideration given to potential as well as actual achievement. The pupil must be deemed by the Head to be likely to make sound academic progress following admission and benefit from participation in the wider life of the school.
The family’s financial and other circumstances:
Meeting the financial criteria associated with the bursary scheme
Other mitigating factors may also be considered, including individual family and individual health circumstances
An award is granted at the sole discretion of the Foundation. The Foundation’s decision is final.

Eaton House The Manor Boys’ School, rated ‘Excellent’ by ISI, is an academically outstanding independent school and co-educational nursery, set opposite the leafy green stretches of Clapham Common.
Eaton House The Manor has sent many generations of boys to Eton, Westminster, St. Paul’s and other top secondary schools. Pupils achieve scholarships every year, including, in 2024, four to Dulwich College, three to Brighton College, three to Whitgift School, one to King's College, Wimbledon and one to Marlborough College.
The school offers an inspiring and dynamic education to boys between the ages of 2 and 13 and is non-selective at its reception entry point. Mrs Segrave, Principal of Eaton House Schools and Headmistress of Eaton House The Manor Prep School, says, ‘We aim to identify and nurture each boy’s budding strengths and interests, encouraging his curiosity so that he will have the confidence to pursue them.’
A wide range of extracurricular opportunities are available to the boys, with up to 50 clubs each term from School of Rock to Rugby and Gardening. The school is committed to the individual learning and pastoral care of their boys, instilling in them an academic and social confidence that they carry through life. Staff prioritise the mental health of their pupils and, in turn, happy children achieve great results. The House system, dedicated form tutors, and an extensive wellbeing hub, contribute to a strong framework of pastoral care, ensuring that every child is championed and supported throughout their education at the school.
Eaton House The Manor Boys’ School is located on the same extensive premises as Eaton House The Manor Girls’ School, making it the ideal place for siblings to enjoy the benefits of a single-sex education on one site. In 2022, the ISI reported at both Eaton House the Manor schools, ‘respecting others is an innate quality exhibited by all pupils, with diversity and inclusion being openly celebrated’.
Entrance procedure. Entrance to the nursery and reception is non-selective. Registration is accepted from birth and early application is advised. Boys and girls are welcomed to the nursery in the September following their second birthday. The majority of the nursery pupils go on to attend reception, where they are joined by those who register for 4+ entry.
From Years 1 to 8, children registered to join Eaton House The Manor Boys’ School after the initial reception entry point will be invited to visit the school for an admissions assessment before a place can be offered (subject to availability). Prospective pupils are asked to complete a formal 8+ assessment for external entry into Year 4.
