Dumpton School is a co-educational day school for pupils aged 2 to 13 years. The school is set in a beautiful rural setting with 26 acres of grounds but is nevertheless only one mile from Wimborne and school buses run daily to and from the nearby towns of Blandford, Bournemouth, Dorchester, Ferndown, Poole, Ringwood, Verwood and Wareham.
Despite record numbers in the school, class sizes are small. Children enjoy excellent teaching as well as incomparable opportunities for Music, Art, Drama and Sport in which the school excels. Dumpton is renowned for its caring approach in which every child is encouraged to identify and develop his or her abilities and personal qualities as fully as possible. This safe and supportive environment sees the children thrive and reach their full potential. The framework of family and Christian values emphasises the importance of teamwork and mutual respect that pervades the school. It is a very happy and successful school and children regularly win scholarships to their Senior Schools or places at the local Grammar Schools. Over the past twelve years, Dumpton pupils have been awarded over 278 scholarships to schools such as Bryanston, Canford, Clayesmore, Millfield, Milton Abbey, Talbot Heath and Sherborne.
Recent developments have included a new multi-purpose Performing Arts venue complete with music recital room, a new outdoor adventure playground for the Prep School, a new Science and Maths Block, a full-size floodlit Astroturf, a covered swimming pool, a new Art, Design and Food Technology Centre, an outdoor classroom, climbing wall and environmental area, complete with ponds, pontoons, beehives and pupil allotments. In addition, the school has been awarded Green Flag status by Eco-Schools for 4 years running as well as the South West Environmental Award for 2018. The building of a new state-of-the-art sports hall was completed in the summer of 2019.
The school motto ‘You can because you think you can’, lies at the cornerstone of teaching at Dumpton and our aim is for pupils to leave us having reached their full potential, as confident communicators and appreciating good manners and tolerance.
