Caldicott delivers a first-class educational experience for boys that is built on timeless foundations, while fitting the demands of the modern world. Located in 40 acres of South Buckinghamshire countryside, the school is only 30 minutes from West London and 15 miles from Heathrow Airport. We’re a small prep school of around 250 boys aged 7-13 with a dedicated team of drivers who take some stress out of the school run with our large minibus fleet extending locally and throughout West London. The bus network is reviewed each year based on demand.
Known for stellar academic results and an impressive leavers’ destinations list, boys in the last five years have progressed to more than 30 different senior schools. Caldicott has also achieved a ‘full house’ of scholarships (academia, arts and sport) for the last few years, despite modestly sized year groups. Our small class sizes allow us to monitor the progress of each child, and ensure his learning is being supported in the right ways. Our weekly wellbeing survey is a unique and quantitative way of ensuring the wellbeing of our boys, but there are also all of the usual avenues of support.
Every boy has access to exceptionally high-quality coaching, outstanding facilities and a broad range of opportunities to relish enjoyment through sport. A great example of our ‘sports for all’ philosophy can be witnessed during termly internal competitions which see all boys outside of the A teams compete to make it to the Grand Final complete with pyrotechnics, live commentary, and a buzzing crowd of parents, boys and staff. The Arts have a big place too; over 180 individual instrumental music lessons and 121 LAMDA tuition sessions are timetabled weekly. Our many recitals, concerts, showcases and House competitions also give boys a chance to thrive in the spotlight.
Advocates of boarding, around half of our pupils board in some capacity, either as a full, weekly or flexi boarder. We offer a gentle and nurturing introduction to boarding with our team fostering the right balance between teaching independence, resilience, and offering home-from-home comfort. Caldicott appreciates the individualised needs of each child and so boarding is no longer compulsory for older years, with flexi boarding available from as early as Year 3.
