Clifton College Pre-Preparatory School is a vibrant co-educational school for children aged 3-8. The College prides itself on creating an environment where children are fully engaged, and who are creatively immersed in their learning, making firm friendships along the way. The highest possible standard of education is provided for all, and places strong emphasis on building the core skills of literacy and numeracy, the essential foundations for future learning.
Life at the Pre-Preparatory is busy and exciting. Year 2 and 3 pupils may take part in a range of co-curricular activities at lunchtimes or after school, with around 16 clubs and societies taking place. These change termly and include a variety of sports, sewing club, craft club, science club, ukulele club, book club and Lego club. Services and concerts are held every term in the Chapel, and an annual musical is performed at the wonderful Redgrave Theatre. There is a full programme of educational visits and outings for all ages, including a youth hostelling trip for Year 3.
Each class benefits from a dedicated class teacher, along with support from a teaching assistant. Qualified specialist class teachers deliver a topic-based curriculum, with specialist teachers for Music, Dance, Sport, French and Mandarin.
Piano and instrumental lessons are available from Year 2, and all children in Years 2 and 3 learn the recorder, strings and sing in the choir.
The Pre-Preparatory benefits from aspects of the Preparatory school, it is governed by the same Council and enjoys the considerable advantages of sharing many of Clifton College’s impressive facilities. These include the swimming pool, sports hall, library, multi-activity hall, Chapel and Theatre. The Pre-Preparatory school is situated in two buildings either side of a superb playground, with a variety of exciting play equipment available.
Recent investment has seen the creation of an outdoor area leading from the reception classrooms. This is designed to give reception classes easy access to an outdoor space which they can use to extend and enhance their learning.
Another exciting provision is the Forest School at our Beggar’s Bush Sports Ground. All year groups, from Reception to Year 3, visit the Forest School, it provides a range of stimulating outdoor experiences for the children, enabling them to learn, achieve and develop confidence through curriculum-linked activities and free exploration of the natural woodland.
