The BSP provides, in a caring environment, a high-quality British-style education for British and international students, to enable them to become caring citizens and to lead fulfilling lives.
Located just 15 kilometres from Paris, the School caters for English-speaking children of over 70 nationalities (about 30% are British) from ages 3–18. It is a not-for-profit association in France and is presided over by a governing body under the patronage of Her Excellency the British Ambassador to France.
The Junior School provides education for primary aged children from 3–11 years. The purpose-built Junior School is located very close to the Senior School along the banks of the river Seine. There are 35 classrooms accommodating up to 480 pupils, as well as 4 bespoke classrooms and 2 activity areas that are dedicated to our foundation stage/nursery section. Studies are based on the English National Curriculum with emphasis on English, Maths and Science, and of course, the French language. Being a holistic educator, the BSP has a strong co-curricular base with a special focus on music and drama as well as a large variety of sports. (For further information about the Junior School, see entry in IAPS section). The Senior School, which caters for pupils aged from 11–18 years, is situated beside a beautiful stretch of the Seine in Croissy sur Seine. The buildings, with the exception of two nineteenth century houses, have been built since 1990. The Science and Technology block provides excellent facilities for Science, Information Technology, Electronics and Design. There are six large, well-equipped science laboratories. The other classroom blocks house Humanities, Art, Business Studies, Modern Languages, Music, English and Mathematics. Other facilities include a generously staffed and resourced student career guidance programme, a library, IT labs, a refectory, a large sports hall and fitness centre. Students enter at the age of 11 and for the first three years, a broad general education is maintained in line with the National Curriculum. Pupils are prepared for the GCSE and A level examinations in a comprehensive range of subjects.
Music and drama are an integral part of school life; the music centre includes teaching and practice facilities as well as a well-equipped electronic studio. Specialist teachers visit the School to provide individual lessons in a wide range of instruments. Children take the Associated Board exams at regular intervals.
The School has had considerable sporting success over the years, winning the International Schools’ Sports Tournament competition in girls’ field hockey, and boys’ rugby. Our international fixture lists provide an incentive to gain a place in school teams. As well as local matches our teams travel regularly to Belgium, Holland and the UK.
Small overall numbers, modest class sizes and a supportive pastoral system all help new pupils integrate quickly. Our examination results are outstanding. At A level over 36.8% of all grades were A* and A and 96% of all grades at GCSE were between 9–4 in 2024. These results compare very favourably with high-calibre schools in the UK. Most students continue their education at prestigious universities in the UK, USA, France and worldwide. BSP students have been successfully admitted to the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford, London School of Economics, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University, McGill University, Universidad de Madrid, Seoul National University, L’Université de la Sorbonne, to mention but a few.
