Box Hill School, nestled in twenty-six acres of Surrey countryside, offers a nurturing and diverse co-educational environment for students aged 11–18. Embracing day, flexi, weekly, and full boarding options, we stand out by recognising and fostering the unique talents of each individual. Our focus lies in unlocking their potential, fostering confidence and building resilience.
Renowned for our robust educational, artistic and sporting traditions, our commitment to discovering and nurturing every student's abilities is what sets us apart. Our academic standards are notably high despite our non-selective approach, with students consistently surpassing national averages in public exams – a testament to our dedication to academic excellence.
Key School features:
International opportunities via Round Square membership.
IB World School status.
Small classes and robust academic support.
Exceptional pastoral care.
Diverse weekly and termly co-curricular activities, ranging from Chamber Orchestra to High Ropes.
International Study Centre.
In our Sixth Form, students have the choice between the IB Diploma Programme or A Levels, benefitting from flexible subject combinations within our timetable system. We aim to accommodate a wide array of choices to suit individual aspirations.
As a proud founding member of Round Square, a global network of 200+ schools, we are guided by its core ‘IDEALS’: Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service, ingrained in our school’s ethos.
Our small, friendly Houses create a supportive ‘home away from home’ atmosphere. Full-time boarders relish weekend outings, and a staffed on-site medical centre ensures their wellbeing during term time. Notably, there are no ‘exeat’ weekends.
We strongly believe in the value of extracurricular activities, woven into our extensive timetabled program. Students engage in UK expeditions twice a year, with a strong emphasis on programmes like the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and Round Square expeditions focusing on community-based projects globally.
Our vibrant Parents Association, comprising supportive parents and friends, fosters community links through social functions and fundraising events, encouraging all parents to actively participate.

Bursaries are available on application following registration and are subject to means-testing and are offered on the basis of a formula laid out in the school’s Scholarships and Bursaries Policy which is available on request from the school. All bursaries are reviewed annually.
Method of entry. Entry is based on an interview, the two most recent reports from the pupil’s present school, and written tests in Maths and English. Sixth Form entry is based on report, interview and GCSE predictions. For overseas pupils a personal interview on site is desirable but we are happy to conduct a virtual interview if necessary. Main school entrance ages are 11, 13 and 16 years. Under normal circumstances, we like to meet prospective pupils and their parents or guardians – this also gives you an opportunity to have a look around our campus facilities and meet key staff and students.
