Number of pupils. 504: 52 boarders (aged 9–13), 270 day boys and 182 day girls (aged 3–13), including pre-school children at the Woodlands Nursery, which is housed in new purpose-built premises on the main school site.
Fees per term (2023-2024). Day pupils: Years 5–8 £6,925, Years 3 and 4 £5,590, Years 1 and 2 £5,475, Reception £4,785. Boarders (up to 4 nights per week in addition to day fees): £1,645. No compulsory extras. Fees are inclusive of lunches, most trips and visits.
Beechwood Park occupies a large mansion, with a fine Regency Library and Great Hall, in 60 acres of surrounding grounds, which provide ample space for the Forest School (complete with outdoor classroom). Modernisation has added Science laboratories, computer suites, Design Technology workshop, gymnasium and sports facilities, including a large sports hall and two squash courts, two netball courts, an all-weather pitch and an indoor swimming pool complex. Boarding House with modern facilities and spacious common rooms. Two purpose-built classroom blocks house the Middle and Junior Departments. The Music Department has a song room, 14 practice rooms and a newly-opened Music Technology Suite and Recording Studio. A large Performance Hall provides space for assemblies and the many music and drama productions.
Many day pupils use private buses serving Harpenden, St Albans, Berkhamsted and the surrounding villages. Many subsequently convert to boarding under the care of the Acting Head of Boarding, Mr I Griffiths.
Class size is around 20 (15 in Reception); Maths is streamed from Year 3 onwards, English from Year 5 and other major subjects from Year 6. There is a resident Chaplain. The Director of Music has a staff of visiting instrumentalists in a flourishing Music Department.
The number of scholarships gained each year and Common Entrance results affirm a high standard of work, against a background of wide-ranging co-curricular activities.
Football, Rugby, Cricket (boys and girls), Netball, Hockey, Swimming, Athletics and a Sport for All programme, which includes an unusually wide range of minor sports, are all coached by well-qualified PE Staff.
Charitable status. Beechwood Park School is a Registered Charity, number 311068. It exists to provide education for boys and girls from 3–13.
