Bassett House School also teaches the value of endeavour and of staying power, of developing social skills and forming respectful relationships. It has an extensive programme of extra-curricular activities and clubs, day outings and residential trips, as well as a lively schedule of music, drama and sports.
Bassett House provides a thorough and broad educational grounding following the national curriculum and embracing different teaching techniques (including Montessori). The school has invested heavily in the latest classroom technology to give teachers additional tools to make learning lively, fun and effective. It has specialist teachers in maths, English, science, computing, French, music, physical education, art/design technology, eurhythmics, Latin and dance.
The school was built towards the end of the 19th century and what was originally designed as a large family house now provides modern spacious and airy classrooms. The school premises include use of a separate annex comprising an assembly hall with a stage and gymnasium, three classrooms, a kitchen and a garden. There is also a brand new building, with three Early Years classrooms, an interactive learning zone for child-initiated learning and a performing arts studio for music, dance and drama. The main school building has a playground and the school also uses excellent local play and sports facilities. Included in the school's facilities is an edible garden and new playground.
