Educational philosophy. Children learn best when they are interested, happy and supported in their work. Our girls thrive in a stimulating environment where high standards of work and behaviour are expected. All subjects in the Prep School are taught by enthusiastic subject specialists in classes of no more than 16 girls. We provide a welcoming and friendly atmosphere so that all of our girls feel secure while we encourage them to develop their own particular talents and interests. Our philosophy is centred on the development of self-confidence, a healthy respect for one another and the nurturing of curious, critical minds.
We believe children enjoy being kept busy and acquiring new skills, so we try to create a balance between academic work in the classroom, plenty of physical exercise, a range of extracurricular activities and opportunities for recreational and creative play. The girls are given the opportunity to explore and develop their language skills and study French, Latin, German and Spanish while additional languages, such as Mandarin and Italian, are offered in after-school clubs.
Facilities. The Prep School is well appointed with light airy classrooms, dedicated rooms for Art, Design Technology and Music, a Science laboratory, and an ICT suite. We have a beautiful library and a Hall in which various activities including ballet, drama and musical concerts take place. There is a wonderful, secure adventure playground that the girls make the most of during break and lunch times.
Being on the same campus as the Senior School, the girls make use of all the facilities on site which include the 25 m indoor swimming pool, a Sports Centre complete with climbing wall, fencing piste, fitness centre and four-court sports hall, and the all-purpose sports pitch. There are excellent facilities for music, which plays an important part both inside and outside the curriculum.
With our extended day facilities we aim to provide a warm and caring environment to suit the needs of all our pupils and their parents. Every day, clubs such as gardening, chess, drama, art or playground games take place after school and girls are welcome to stay on for prep or late stay until 5.45 pm, at no additional cost.
Charitable status. Badminton School Limited is a Registered Charity, number 311738. It exists to provide education for children.
