Founded in 1920, Ayscoughfee Hall School is centred around a beautiful Georgian family home. A purpose-built extension complements the already spacious accommodation. The School houses Kindergarten, Infant and Junior Departments and has further developed its facilities to include enlarged classrooms, a dedicated Science/Art Room, Music Department, Cookery Room, Library, a large Sports Hall and a Foreign Languages Room.
Following a full inspection in September 2021, Ayscoughfee Hall School was judged to be ‘Excellent’ in all areas. A very thorough inspection was carried out by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in which the school was awarded the highest possible grade.
The guidelines and principles of the National Curriculum are followed in all subjects but go far beyond the basic requirements in order to give each child a broader, more varied understanding. Academic standards are high, and progress is well monitored throughout the school. The vast majority of pupils are successful in the Lincolnshire County Council 11+ selection examination (average pass rate of 93% over the last 5 years) and progress to secondary selective school education very well equipped to tackle all subjects. The curriculum is continually reviewed and class teachers are supported by specialist teachers for PE, ICT, languages, music and Forest School. French and Spanish are taught from Reception class.
iPads support learning in the classrooms and pupils receive weekly, dedicated ICT tuition in our up-to-date ICT suite.
The School excels with its music and drama productions over the academic year, in which all children perform in front of their parents and guests.
The school competes successfully in local and regional sports activities, including football, rugby, hockey, netball, cross-country and athletics.
There is a thriving programme of extracurricular activities, including sport, cookery, debating, band, choir, stop motion, mindfulness/wellbeing, gardening, eco club and Forest School. A wide variety of educational visits is offered, with the older children having the opportunity to participate in alternate cultural and activity residential trips, accompanied by the staff. Furthermore, regular visits by professional groups and individuals take place in school.
As a small school with small class sizes, we aim to provide a happy and caring environment where the individual child may flourish. We are proud of our academic standards but we also strive to give a broad and balanced education placing the child's wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. Above all, we want our boys and girls to use and develop their different abilities and to enjoy the success this brings.
