Ardvreck, an extraordinary boarding and day preparatory school located in the heart of rural Perthshire and within an hour’s reach of Glasgow and Edinburgh, offers a unique, educational experience to children aged 3 to 13.
Known for our sense of adventure and creativity, we are most definitely the school every grown-up wishes they had attended as a child. It’s where kindness, courtesy and good manners are at the forefront of every human interaction. It’s an environment where working hard and playing hard are of equal importance and where good humour and fun permeate every undertaking.
Our dedicated boarding house, Dalvreck, accommodates up to 70 boarders on any given night. Refurbished in 2020, Dalvreck House is filled with the latest technologies as well as many home comforts taking into account your children’s suggestions and needs.
We see time as the most important currency for our boarders who are given the time to enjoy being children within our beautiful 40-acre estate and beyond into our extended ‘garden’, the foothills of the highlands. The boarders at Dalvreck benefit from our sector-leading outdoor provision, together with the weekend and evening activities which brim with fun and inspiration.
We offer bespoke travel options which include chaperoned, direct trains from London to Gleneagles. Boarders can be escorted to and from Scottish airports; all necessary documentation can be handled by the School if required.
You will soon realise that we firmly believe classrooms do not need walls. As well as outdoor lessons, the entire school regularly adventures into the exciting, natural playground on our doorstep to undertake Barvicks (expeditions) and a regular Ard Challenge.
A modern and well-equipped Music School provides the best possible opportunities for music-making. There is an orchestra, choir and pipe band, all of which regularly participate in both school and local music events. Music and drama play an important part in the life of the school and a major production is staged annually with several smaller productions and numerous concerts taking place throughout the year.
There is a heated, indoor swimming pool (all children are taught to swim), an Astroturf surface for hockey, tennis and netball, and a superb sports hall.
This is not just a school; this is Ardvreck School. Here the children are prepared to be resilient and well equipped, with a daring spirit to succeed and to overcome anything that is thrown at them on their life journeys; they are courageous pioneers.
We burst with pride at each speech day when we celebrate the achievements of the children whose lives we have helped shape. They are happy, well-rounded and fulfilled children who are full of hope and ambition for their futures. It will come as no surprise then, that Head Teachers from public schools all over the UK are very keen to enlist Ardvreck pupils. Since 2019, 82% of our pupils have been awarded scholarships to a total of 27 of senior schools across the UK, including Eton and St Mary’s, Ascot. Our pupils have secured scholarships for Music, Sport, Academic, Drama and Art, to name but a few.
Ardvreck has an unbelievable team of staff; they are the movers and shakers, optimists, can-doers, smilers and, above all, all care about the education and wellbeing of every single child in our school.
