Alton School is an independent co-educational Catholic school located on the north Hampshire/Surrey border, on the outskirts of the market town of Alton. It is an all through School with a clear educational and pastoral pathway for boys and girls, from Nursery through to Sixth Form. Formerly known as Alton Convent, Alton School prides itself on its pastoral care and outstanding progress that it achieves for every child.
The minute you step foot in Alton School you feel the sense of family, care and community. We are a happy and friendly school, but we are also bold and ambitious in our approach and in our aspirations for our pupils. We guide our pupils in finding their moral compass, in understanding themselves and what they can contribute to the world.
Achieving and Caring. We know each of our pupils individually and understand how best to balance the challenge, support and encouragement that every student needs to succeed. Our A Level and GCSE results are consistently strong and our pupils regularly outperform expectations at every stage of their education.
At Alton School results matter but it is the progress that each individual makes that is of the greatest value. Progress is developed and monitored as pupils move through the School all the way from Nursery, through Prep and Senior school and often into Sixth Form. The effect of this is seen in the excellent Value-Added scores students obtain – this is the measure of progress that students achieve based on where a student started from and the progress they make relative to other similar students.
Extra-Curricular. Alton School students are invited to develop their talents and interests through a fantastic range of stimulating and inspiring learning experiences. There really is something for everyone including award-winning Science, thought-provoking field trips, and reflection time on spiritual retreats. There are a wide range of sports for boys and girls, music for all age groups, drama and art as well as CCF and Duke of Edinburgh.
International Opportunity. We are fortunate to be part of a vibrant international community. Our students have the opportunity to go to India to support the work of our sister school in Varanasi, join the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes and experience a fully immersive language programme in Columbia. Students regularly tell us that these trips are life changing.
Remote Learning. We are committed to preparing our students for the future and this need has never been more real than it is today. Our interactive Alton@Home Remote Learning Programme offers a full and structured timetable of remote, interactive lessons using Microsoft Teams.
Charitable status. The Alton Convent School Charity is a Registered Charity, number 1071684.
