St Cedd’s School, founded in 1931, is a leading co-educational day school and Pre-School for children aged 3 to 11. The grounds and facilities create a vibrant and purposeful learning environment where children are encouraged to become independent, confident and caring individuals. A St Cedd’s School education focuses on high standards of literacy and numeracy within an expansive academically broad and balanced curriculum, supplemented by a superb programme of sport and an extraordinarily creative output of music and the performing arts. PE, Music, Art and MFL are taught by specialist teachers from Pre-School; Swimming and Recorders are introduced in Year 2 and International Studies in Years 5 and 6. Following the 11+ entry and Independent School Examinations, a baccalaureate-style curriculum in Year 6 leads to the HOLDFAST Award which celebrates the breadth of children’s achievements and talents. Music is a particular strength of the school with outstanding individual instrumental examination results. St Cedd’s School is a Choir Schools’ Association School and a member of the Chelmsford Choral Foundation. This link to Chelmsford Cathedral provides the opportunity for our choirs to perform at Choral Evensong.
The grounded confidence the pupils have, as a result of excellent teaching and differentiated learning in a happy and supported environment, where children have fun and are encouraged to take risks, results in great personal achievements. Our children aspire to the highest levels of attainment and we boast a successful track record of outstanding results at entry to Grammar Schools and scholarships to Independent Senior Schools.
Breakfast is available from 7.30 am and there is an extensive array of after-school activities with wraparound care in our TLC provision until 6.00 pm.
