Ravenscourt Park Preparatory school provides education of the highest quality for boys and girls, preparing them for transfer to the best independent schools at 11 years of age. The Lower School caters for pupils aged 4–7 and the Upper School for 7–11 years. All pupils are housed in one of the three main buildings that make up the RPPS site. The Gardener Building is home to a theatre, a state-of-the-art science laboratory and an art studio. The secure site includes a large play area, a newly refurbished outdoor learning area for Early Years and the school makes use of the extensive facilities of Ravenscourt Park which it adjoins.
The curriculum includes French, humanities, music, art and craft, RE and PE for all pupils in addition to the usual core subjects. In the Upper School the majority of subjects are taught by specialists. All Upper School pupils attend a Residential Week where studies across the curriculum are applied to a non-urban environment.
There are many after-school clubs and sports activities, as well as three choirs and two orchestras. Individual tuition is offered in piano, harp, violin, brass, woodwind, cello, saxophone, clarinet, flute, percussion and singing. The drama productions and concerts are a highlight of each school year.
A wraparound care service, before and after school, is offered to parents at an extra charge.
The school is noted for its warm, happy atmosphere where parents play a full part in enriching the curriculum and social life. Off-site visits and guest workshops presented by noted visitors are a regular feature of education at RPPS.
The school is very popular in the local area and registration is strongly recommended on the child’s first birthday. A prospectus and registration form may be obtained from the school secretary and online. Open Mornings take place each month (dates are available on the school website).
The school was inspected by ISI in November 2021 and received ‘excellent’ in both key outcomes. The full inspection report is available on the school website.
