Priory School, located in the heart of Edgbaston, Birmingham, is an independent, co-educational day school with a proud history of academic excellence and holistic education. Founded in 1936, the school provides a nurturing environment for pupils aged six months to 18 years, fostering a love of learning and personal growth. While we honour our Catholic heritage, we welcome students and staff of all faiths and beliefs within our Priory Family.
At Priory School, we believe in offering a balanced education that combines strong academic foundations with opportunities for personal development through sports, the arts and extracurricular activities. Our curriculum is designed to challenge students while catering to individual learning needs, encouraging them to reach their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.
The school has an excellent Early Years provision on site which offers care for 50 weeks of the year and accepts children from the age of 6 months. All pupils are able to remain in After Care until 6.00 pm if preferred.
Pupils are taught by specialist teachers from the age of nine and in the Senior School through to Sixth Form. The curriculum is broad and balanced with pupils benefitting from small class sizes and individual attention, enabling them to foster a love for learning and make excellent progress in their academic development.
The school is set within 14 acres of grounds, designed by the legendary Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. They are not just beautiful – they are iconic. Within these well-maintained grounds we have an impressive outdoor ‘Base Camp’ classroom, Forest School areas, and DofE preparation spaces: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Our facilities include modern classrooms and specialist laboratories nestled within our Grade II-listed building designed by the Georgian architect, Yeoville Thomason. The estate’s history, from the Middlemore family’s Tudor legacy, offers a narrative that few schools can replicate. At the far end of our grounds are expansive sports fields. Our football pitches have been graced by some of the county’s current leading national and international footballers, along with state-of-the-art tennis facilities used by our distinguished neighbour The Priory Tennis club; all designed to inspire and support our students’ learning experiences.
Entry to Priory School is by day visit and assessment. Scholarships are awarded 11+ & Sixth Form. Financial assistance is offered through a number of means-tested supported places, available from Reception through to Sixth Form, continuing the school’s charitable traditions.
Prospective families are warmly invited into school for a tour and to discuss individual needs, by contacting the Head of Admissions & Marketing: admissions@prioryschool.net
