Oakhyrst Grange School is an independent, co-educational preparatory day school for boys and girls between 4 and 11 years.
The School was established in 1950 and moved to its present premises in Stanstead Road in 1957. Since September 1973, the School has been administered by a non-profit-making trust.
Standing in five acres of open country and woodland and surrounded by the Green Belt, the School enjoys a fine position amongst the Surrey Hills.
The school has a wide and imaginative curriculum, which includes traditional teaching combined with progressive and innovative ideas. Small class sizes, with a maximum of 20 pupils, and an excellent teacher-to-pupil ratio enable pupils to work at their own rate and capabilities while being encouraged to meet new challenges.
Our pupils secure the offer of places at prominent senior schools, including scholarships and awards across the range of academic, all-rounder, drama, music, art and sport.
There are many sporting opportunities offered and particularly high standards have been reached in cross-country, swimming, football and athletics, where ISA National level has been achieved. The pupils compete in many inter-house, inter-school and area competitions. The school also has its own heated indoor swimming pool, all-weather floodlit multi-use games area, tennis, netball, hockey and 5-a-side court, sports pitch and cross-country course.
Extracurricular music lessons are offered and much music-making also takes place as part of the normal school timetable. The school has an orchestra, in addition to flute, guitar, string and cello ensembles along with a chamber choir, all of whom perform regularly.
In addition to the curriculum the pupils can enjoy an extensive range of clubs and activities throughout the week. At Oakhyrst Grange School we are very proud of our Forest School status. A senior leader is fully trained in Forest School Activities and it is an integral part of our curriculum and whole school extracurricular activities.
Academic excellence is encouraged – every child is expected to attain his or her individual potential. The School helps children to develop self-confidence, independence and a readiness for their next school.
Charitable status. Oakhyrst Grange School Educational Trust is a Registered Charity, number 325043. It exists to provide an all-round education, to give the children success and the best possible start.
