Notre Dame Prep School was originally founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1864. The school transferred to its present site in 1971 and is now a Limited Company with charitable status. The school maintains the traditions and the spirit of the Sisters of Notre Dame and the former name and ethos.
As a Catholic school we endeavour to nurture a love of God through Jesus Christ in all the children. The school has an ethos of love and care and is proud to welcome children of many different faiths and cultures to make up our diverse community, embracing children and families of all faiths or none.
Children are treated as individuals, respected, nurtured and encouraged to embrace and fulfil their potential in all areas of school life. We have excellent links with local High Schools in both the maintained and independent sectors with many of our children achieving scholarships for local schools.
The children achieve well above average results in external tests and Notre Dame Prep has a strong academic reputation. The school largely follows the National Curriculum which we enhance with a range of exciting activities and opportunities such as our annual KS2 Summer Musicals along with a range of trips and visits throughout the year.
Our vibrant Minibeasts Nursery is a key part of our school with parents and children taking an active part in school life.
The school has strong links with our St John's Cathedral where the children are given the opporutnity to sign, play music and have the opportunity to particiapte in services throughout the year culminating with our annual Prize Giving which is held in the Cathedral every summer.
The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities including that change on a termly basis and we welcome a number of peripatetic teachers to enhance this.
Our on-site school kitchens provide cooked lunches for all of our pupils including our nursery and cater for a wide range dietary requirements. We have an After-School Activities Club which runs until 5.30 pm each day and this is available to all of our children. Holiday clubs are available in school holidays at agreed times.
