We are very fortunate to enjoy the historic and inspirational site which is home to Hoe Bridge School. The 22-acre estate is a hidden gem in the heart of Surrey and a stone’s throw from Woking town centre.
The school has invested strategically to ensure the best facilities in the area, with a high standard of classrooms to provide the perfect learning environment. These are complemented by specialist suites for subjects such as Art, Design & Technology, ICT, Science, Music and indoor exercise. Staff and children alike are justifiably proud of the recently built 110-seat Performing Arts Centre.
Sport and exercise are all-important in the school week, and are amply catered for with two sports halls, three large playing fields, all-weather pitch, heated outdoor swimming pool, outdoor and indoor cricket nets, cross-country course and grass and artificial cricket squares.
Beyond, the Hideout outdoor classroom, pond with its own pontoon, meadow and woods provide a natural wonderland for outdoor learning, inspiration and exploration for inquiring young minds.
Within our estate, Pre-Prep enjoys its own purpose-built building with assembly hall, fully equipped gym, well-stocked library, ICT suite, art and music rooms, as well as modern classrooms with indoor and outdoor learning areas. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards and we make extensive use of iPads.
Transition to the Prep Department is seamless and as children mature they become increasingly independent learners in preparation for the move to senior school. The results achieved by the children across the ability range are outstanding, leading to success at some of the country’s leading schools. The pupils are inspired by dedicated staff, lessons are rigorous and interactive and achievement is excellent. 2022 Common Entrance Exam Results were outstanding.
Alongside the academics, sport, music, art and drama play a major part throughout the school and children excel in many areas: end-of-year productions; sporting excellence achieving national success in netball and hockey, county success in cricket and football; individual musical success in national youth orchestras and choirs and a spectacular annual art exhibition. Scholarships in all these areas are won every year to a variety of schools across the country. ‘The pupils’ successes in academic work, sport and music, both individually and in groups, are due to their excellent attitudes to learning.’ Latest ISI Inspection Report.
Older pupils take part in regular activities such as Bush Craft weekends, French trips, cricket and netball tours and are challenged by preparing and presenting a gourmet meal to their parents. It is at this stage of their time at Hoe Bridge that they take on extra responsibility becoming prefects and role models to the younger children.
Recognising the pressing need for an independent senior school in Woking, we have established Hoe Bridge Senior School. This ensures that your child can benefit from our outstanding education in preparation for GCSE and their choice of further education or career within easy reach of the local area. From September 2022, pupils in or joining Year 6 and below will be able to stay at the school until Year 11, when GCSEs are taken.
We are passionate in the belief that the role of educators is to provide a wide-ranging framework in which children can grow and develop creatively in a continually changing and often unpredictable world. We have an unwavering commitment to empowering those within our community: inspiring, challenging and motivating both children and adults in all that we do. We have an environment which grows and adapts, allowing all children to learn and understand from their many different strengths. Empathy and caring for others are our principal values, which are intrinsic within our ideology and shown in the special qualities within our community. Each child is known and valued for who they are.
In providing a safe and secure environment where children can explore their potential, confidence and self-esteem, we nurture each individual enabling them to achieve the highest of standards. Learning is best achieved in a collaborative community which inspires and encourages ambitious minds with high-quality and dynamic teachers being the driving force behind such a setting.
