Founded 1878.
There are 554 day girls and entry by examination and interview is normally at 11+, with a number joining at 16+ for the Sixth Form. The School was founded in 1878 and is affiliated to the Church of England, but girls of all Christian denominations and other faiths are welcomed. The School is part of the London 11+ Consortium, an association of 14 independent London day schools for girls, operating one entrance exam across the group.
Curriculum and Aims. Girls are prepared for GCSE, A Levels, and for admission to Universities, and Colleges of Art and Music. Full use is made of the museums, theatres and galleries in central London. Extra lessons are available including fencing, music, Speech and Drama, kickboxing, Mandarin Chinese, cookery, street dance, yoga and cheerleading. For the first five years, to GCSE, girls follow a broad curriculum and normally take between 9 and 11 GCSE subjects. Careers advice is given from the third year, and all pupils receive individual guidance through to the Sixth Form. Sixth Formers can study three subjects or four subjects plus an elective. Some of these additional courses lead to a qualification and all of them are designed both to extend and to enrich learning. All Sixth Formers have the opportunity to take an Extended Project Qualification.
Physical Education. Sport takes place in Regent’s Park. Netball, Hockey, Tennis and Cricket are our main sports. Girls also have the opportunity to partake in Gymnastics, Athletics, Football and Swimming, which takes place in the onsite swimming pool. Senior girls have a choice of additional activities including spinning, Judo, pilates, strength and conditioning and use of the fitness suite.
