Collegiate Prep School is located in Stapleton village, north Bristol. It is less than one mile from Junction 2 of the M32 and therefore easily accessible from north Bristol and South Gloucestershire. In addition to its own specialist facilities for Science, ICT, Music, Design & Technology, Art and Games, the Prep School has full use of facilities at the neighbouring Collegiate Senior School including 30 acres of playing fields, plus the theatre, concert hall and sports centre.
At the end of Year 6, pupils move from the Prep to the Senior School (see entry in HMC section). They work in small classes on a broad and engaging curriculum that extends and enthuses a community of highly active learners. It incorporates the full range of academic subjects together with French, Design and Technology, ICT, Art, Music, Forest School and competitive sports. The School benefits from a highly efficient Learning Support Unit for those needing additional support and a Gifted and Talented programme for those who show particular strengths.
To find balance in their learning, all children are encouraged to explore their strengths in music, drama, languages, sport and art. School sport fixtures, trips, residential visits and clubs all enhance school life and each child’s enjoyment of their community. In the on-site woodland, the Forest School sees children learn new skills, both within and beyond the national curriculum. They enjoy the time and space to develop their natural curiosity through hands-on practical experiences.
Pastoral care is at the core of life at Collegiate Prep. Pupils have a form tutor and are part of a deeply supportive traditional house system that celebrates all elements of school life, from sports day to inter-house competitions and regular house gatherings. Older pupils form bonds with Pre-School and Reception classes in the weekly reading buddies sessions, which mutually support the reading skills of younger pupils and give Year 6 children a taste of responsibility and relationship building.
Collegiate Prep School offers a wide range of extracurricular clubs and activities, and pupils are able to start the day with Breakfast Club at 7.30 am and stay on at school under supervision for an extended day until 6.00 pm.
Charitable status. Collegiate School is a Registered Charity, number 1079552. Its aims and objectives are the provision of education.
